BYOD in Te Totara Whanau

In 2016 the Te Totara Whanau participated in a BYOD trial (the link to the results of this trial are below). We began 2017 with those learners who had been a part of this trial continuing to bring their device into school for learning so that our 2017 teaching team could become familiar with how this would work. We then invited other learners to bring their own device into school for learning.

The criteria for the invite to BYOD are:

Learners who have shown that they can do the learning that is requested of them appropriately and within a set time frame on our school devices.

They have also shown us that they can treat a school device with respect.

We will begin 2018 by inviting those learners who were invited in 2017 to be a part of BYOD in 2018. If they accept this invitation a new BYOD contract/agreement for 2018 will be sent home to be completed by the learner and their whanau.

In week 10 of Term 1 we will extend the invitation to be a part of BYOD to other learners who have met the criteria. We will review the learners involved on a termly basis.
