St James’ Catholic School Whakaruruhau I A Sheltering Place
Welcome to

ST JAMES’ CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Tumuaki | Principal’s Welcome

Tēnā koutou katoa –  Haere mai – We have planned this website to be the place for all things St James’ – information, links and happenings.

Our Vision: To grow Catholic, Christian young people, who are confident, connected lifelong learners, inspired by the teachings of Jesus, and who make a positive difference in their community.

Our Motto: To Live the Truth – Veritatem Vivere – comes to us from St James. We live the Gospel as Catholics welcoming, responding practically and positively.

He Whakaaro Rangatira: Te Whakaruruhau – A sheltering place – given to St James’ School by James Kenrick, speaks of a sheltering place where all people are welcomed, supported and nurtured.

St James’, founded by the Mercy sisters in 1958 – has been quietly shining for 65 years, supporting families to educate their children in the faith. Our call to live this vision makes it real and serves those around us with love. This new website will enable you to find the information you need – please let us know if you would like to see anything else on the site.

Christine Cosgrove
Principal

Our Vision

To grow Catholic, Christian, young people, who are CONFIDENT, CONNECTED, LIFELONG LEARNERS, inspired by the teachings of Jesus, and who make a positive difference in their community.

Reminder: Tomorrow – Black and White non Uniform day for Gold Coin Donation

Mon Mar 06 02:34pm

Black and White non uniform day for Gold Coin Donation, March 7 – Following is a plan from our
Catholic Diocese to support our schools affected by floods in Hawkes Bay.

Focus – to provide our Hawkes Bay Catholic schools with a fund to allocate to families at their discretion. This would be specifically but not exclusively related to school items that have been lost or damaged and to support emergency living costs.

Our St James’ non uniform day will be on March 7 with a black and white theme which are the Hawkes Bay colours. If you wish to support this appeal, please send your child to school in non uniform and with a gold coin.

We respond in this way because the Gospel message calls us to be the hands and feet of Christ. We are in solidarity with our Catholic school communities who are suffering.
