Mid Year Report Interviews – If you would like to make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress please book a time on Thursday 29 July. Bookings will close at midday tomorrow for Thursday 29 July interviews. Learning Space 6 interviews will now be held on Thursday 5 August. For families that had booked you will by now have received a notification asking you to rebook.

Black Caps World Cup Mace tour, Fitzherbert Park, Thursday 29th July from 3.30pm-4.30pm…Mon Jul 26 03:56pm
The Manawatu Cricket Association would like to invite students, supporters and staff at St James’ Catholic School to join the Black Caps World Cup Mace tour at Fitzherbert Park on Thursday 29th July from 3.30pm-4.30pm.
Ross Taylor, Will Young and Doug Bracewell will be at Fitzherbert Park with the WTC Mace and we would love to have you and your school down at Fitz to meet the Black Caps, to have a team photo and celebrate New Zealand being World Test Champions. Your players/students are encouraged to wear school colours and we hope to arrange a photo for all schools with the Mace and the Black Caps, as well as the chance to have individual photos and get signatures.
Thanks again for your support of cricket in the Manawatu, we are all very proud of the Black Caps and know that their success is a direct result of the development they get through schools like St James’ Catholic School.

Just a reminder: tomorrow we will be celebrating St James the Greater and Grandparents Day!
This celebration will begin at 1:00 pm with a shared lunch with your learner/s and their classes. Please take your food items (no nuts please) to your learning space. After this, we will move into the hall for a whole school Liturgy. We will then finish the day by moving back into our learning spaces to participate in some St James the Greater based learning.
There is a COVID Tracer Sign In App in the School Office. Please come to the school office and we can direct you to the appropraite learning space.
We look forward to seeing you all then, and please remember to invite any Grandparents, or other whanau to join us in this celebration!

School Closing for Paid Union Meeting – the NZEI have notified us of a Paid Union Meeting for teachers. Our staff will be attending the meeting on June 25 – therefore school will close on Friday, June 25th at 12.30pm. We ask all children to be picked up at 12.30pm. Nippers will be operating in the hall from 12.30pm should you wish to book in.

Yesterday Senior Kapa Haka would have brought home a note advising we will no longer have the sleepover portion of our Noho on Friday 2nd July.
We will still be in the hall from 11am but will conclude our programme at approximately 8:30pm.
Your children will need to bring:
*Their own morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for Friday 2 July.
*Home baking to share for supper (not to contain nuts)
We would like to invite whānau to watch us run through a practice at 8pm and join us for supper afterwards, before taking your children home for the night.

There will be a 2021 St James’ School GALA MEETING tonight Wednesday 5 May at 6.00 pm in the Staffroom to set up this year’s Gala organising team.
Please consider supporting this essential work. It is a great way to get involved with the school community – you do not have to be part of the PTFA to be involved.
The Gala this year will be a little different to past years – we are trying to simplify it and make it enjoyable for all. It is a great way to get to know each other and support your children’s learning.
We encourage you all to come along and get involved.

Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students.The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.
Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.
Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
